Gov’t Conducts Training Programme for Journalists and Students in the South

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts has conducted a training programme aimed at journalists and higher education students in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City. 

Held from 19 to 20 July, the programme attracted 40 participants from both cities. The primary objective of the programme was to familiarise journalists and aspiring journalists with effective news dissemination techniques. Additionally, it sought to educate attendees on the dangers of spreading false information and the importance of adhering to international reporting standards.

Key topics covered during the sessions included journalistic ethics, various types of journalism and writing, the role of journalists in the development of the Maldives, and investigative journalism. 

Participants also explored journalism concepts, journalistic language, challenges and opportunities in the field, fake news, and solution journalism.

The sessions were led by a team of experts, including Ali Shamaan Ahmed Naif, Mohamed Nazeef, Shamaan Shakir, Ashraf Ali, and Dr Ibrahim Sameer.
