China remains the largest tourist market for the Maldives. According to statistics released by the Tourism Ministry on Tuesday, the Maldives recorded a total of 98,908 tourist arrivals from China as of Monday. In response to this significant market presence, the Maldivian government is intensifying its efforts to further increase arrivals from China.

In alignment with these efforts, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has signed an agreement with China’s Weixin Pay (WeChat Pay). This agreement is designed to support more Maldivian merchants in accepting Weixin Pay, thereby providing Chinese tourists with a more convenient payment experience.
