Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef revealed government policy aimed at facilitating the return of nurses and other healthcare professionals who have been out of service for various reasons.
The unveiling of this policy, a key component of the Maldivian administration’s ‘Hafuthaa 14’ roadmap, took place during a ceremony hosted by the Health Ministry this morning.
Jointly formulated by the Health Ministry and the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the policy permits former health professionals to rejoin the workforce on a wage basis. Notably, the policy streamlines the recruitment process by allowing direct recruitment based on merit, bypassing the customary public vacancy announcement required under the standard recruitment policy.
Furthermore, the policy offers flexibility to returning health professionals by allowing them to opt for shorter working hours than the standard eight hours.
Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel, addressing the audience at the ceremony, highlighted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to opening doors for individuals willing to contribute to the country.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Nasih, the President of the CSC, disclosed that authorities were actively working on formulating similar policies to ease the return of out-of-service workers from additional professions.
