Gov’t Invites Applications for Fishermen’s Day Awards
The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has announced that applications are now open for the Fishermen’s Day awards.
This year marks the 44th Fishermen’s Day, which will be celebrated in Male’ City, with plans for next year’s event to be hosted on one of the islands. The awards aim to honour fishermen whose sole income is derived from fishing, with categories recognising the most dedicated young fishermen under 35 and the most experienced fishermen over 35.
Interested individuals can download the application form from the ministry’s website, with a submission deadline set for 1400hrs on 7 November. Applications may be submitted directly to the ministry via email at fisheriesmanagement@fisheries.gov.mv and can be filed by the fishermen themselves or on their behalf.
Fishermen’s Day is observed annually on 10 December, with last year’s celebrations also held in Male’ City.
