Gov’t Issues Stern Warning on Unauthorised Drone Activity
The Ministry of Defence has announced stringent measures against individuals flying drones in the Maldives without the necessary permits.
Previously, the Ministry had advised the public to obtain permission before operating drones near airports due to the potential risks they pose to air traffic. Despite these warnings, there have been recent incidents of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) being flown in military security zones and near airports.
To address these concerns, the Ministry has reiterated the importance of submitting permit applications at least three days in advance, excluding non-governmental holidays, to ensure timely processing.
It has warned that strict actions will be taken against those who fail to comply with the permit requirements.
