The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has introduced a specialised e-commerce platform called “Maha,” aimed at bolstering support for small and medium enterprises within the fisheries sector.

Aligned with the government’s Week 14 roadmap commitments, the initiative seeks to empower women and young entrepreneurs by facilitating the sale of fisheries products.

Spearheaded by Aishath Fifsheen Ali, Managing Director of the SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC), the inauguration of the portal marks a significant milestone. It is now open for registration to interested parties.

During the launch proceedings, Hussain Zamir, Minister of State for Economic Development and Trade, emphasised the platform’s role in enabling fish producers to market their products and generate income from various locations. This move reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering economic growth, with a particular focus on advancing small and medium-sized enterprises.

Saamih Adam, Deputy Managing Director of BCC, reiterated the corporation’s dedication to promoting local manufacturing and expanding opportunities for domestic products, both locally and internationally. He affirmed that the e-commerce portal welcomes all local producers, with its primary objective being to provide competitive business prospects to fisheries manufacturers nationwide.

The platform is engineered to simplify the sales process for businesses while facilitating seamless communication between buyers and producers. BCC anticipates that the “Maha” platform will stimulate innovation within the industry, harnessing the technical and creative prowess of individuals involved.
