Last month, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed his intention to transform the National Thalassaemia Centre into a more patient-friendly service provider. On 22 March, thalassaemia patients and their families staged protests outside MBS, raising concerns over persistent poor service and the use of faulty products. In response, the Ministry of Health appointed Ahmed Mausoom as the new Director General of MBS on 25 March.
