The Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, has revealed the government’s intention to establish a waiting list for citizens facing housing challenges.
In a session with the Parliamentary Committee on Petitions, Minister Haidar emphasised the benefits of implementing a waiting list system over the traditional approach of announcing housing projects and employing online portals for points-based assessments.
He argued that amending housing laws to pinpoint those with the most pressing housing needs is a more effective strategy.
Furthermore, Minister Haidar highlighted that the waiting list would play a crucial role in determining housing recipients, with regular updates to reflect changes in individuals’ living conditions.
Emphasising the government’s commitment to overseeing such crucial public matters fairly, he stressed the importance of ensuring a just approach to addressing housing needs within the community.
