Gov’t Revises Expatriate Work-Site Registration Procedure

The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has introduced revisions to the documentation required for expatriate work-site registration. These changes aim to simplify the recruitment process for employers.
In an announcement made yesterday, the ministry stated that the revisions are part of its ongoing efforts to streamline the process of work-site registration and expatriate recruitment for local employers. The updated procedures are expected to result in a faster application process and improved data verification.

One of the key changes includes the introduction of a Project Agreement Form specifically for construction work-sites. Another form has been introduced for other industries. Employers are now required to submit declarations for registering leased properties, land, buildings, or vessels as work-sites. Additionally, there is a declaration form for registering vehicles acquired through instalments as work-sites.
Revisions have also been made to the work-site declaration form, which is mandatory when registering expatriates. The revised form now includes a help page to assist applicants in completing it correctly.
Although employers are required to submit these forms, the ministry reserves the right to request original copies of employer-employee agreements if needed. The forms must be notarised by a registered legal notary or certified by the Civil Court or a magistrate court. If notarised, the submission must include a notarisation certificate.
The revised forms will become effective from October. In addition to the changes in work-site registration, the ministry has also updated recruitment procedures. This includes an amendment to the application form for appointing a representative for workers. The updated recruitment forms will be effective from 16 September. The ministry has emphasised that failure to comply with these new regulations will result in the application being void.
