Govt Signs to Empower Individuals with Disabilities for the Tourism Sector

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has forged a partnership with three Hilton resorts in Maldives. The collaboration, sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 3rd March, is set to provide individuals with disabilities to access essential skills training and employment prospects within the tourism industry.

In attendance was Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham, joined by Hilton Resorts Vice President and Regional Head of Hilton South East Asia, Alexandra Murray, alongside General Managers from the three Maldives-based Hilton properties.

The resorts taking part in the initiative include Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and Hilton Maldives Resorts and Spa.

This initiative aims to address the underrepresentation of individuals with disabilities in the tourism sector through tailored vocational training programmes, whereby participants will gain the skills and experience necessary to thrive in various roles within the industry.
