The signing of the agreement was attended by Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan, Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture, alongside Ahmed Saeed Mohamed, the Managing Director of FENAKA. The collaborative effort is aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and operational efficiency within the fishing industry.
The project is scheduled to be completed within a compact timeframe of six months, with an estimated total cost of MVR 5.5 million. The primary objective of this initiative is to effectively address the logistical obstacles encountered by fishermen in accessing a reliable supply of ice.
As part of a broader governmental strategy, various regions across the country are being targeted for the establishment of ice plants and cold storage facilities. This strategic move aims to cater to the ice requirements of local fishermen and ultimately contribute to the overall growth and sustainability of the fishing sector.
