Gov’t to Grant Land Ownership to Long-serving Army Officers

Defense Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon has revealed the government’s plans for long-serving army officers to be able to permanently own land.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 70th Basic Training Course of the Army, Minister Ghassan highlighted the government’s commitment to bolstering the resources of the army, including naval, and marine weapons, while also focusing on individual development within the military ranks.

Emphasizing President Muizzu’s intention to create a viable career pathway within the armed forces, Minister Ghassan outlined initiatives aimed at attracting young talent.

He noted that the government intends to expand opportunities for young people to pursue diverse professions within the army, such as engineering or medicine, thereby contributing to national development.

Furthermore, Minister Ghassan disclosed plans to offer scholarships for army personnel to pursue higher education both locally and abroad, enabling them to advance their careers while serving the nation.

Minister Ghassan also urged the armed forces to uphold moral integrity and remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the nation.

At present, army officers and immediate family members receive free healthcare and housing.
