The Ministry of Defence has announced that certifications issued through unlicensed civil aviation security training programmes will no longer be accepted, amid growing concerns over the proliferation of unauthorised courses.
According to a circular from the Ministry, some private agencies have recently conducted aviation security courses without obtaining the necessary permits. The Ministry stressed that all training related to aviation security must adhere to the National Civil Aviation Security Training Policy, which sets out licensing requirements for both training centres and instructors.
The Directorate of Aviation Security Administration (DASA), operating under the Ministry of Defence, is responsible for formulating regulations to ensure the safety and security of the civil aviation sector. The Ministry emphasised that companies providing such training without approval are in violation of existing regulations, and that any certifications issued through these programmes will be deemed invalid.
The circular, signed by State Minister for Defence Muaz Haleem, has been distributed to relevant institutions, including airport operators, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Aviation Security Command (AVSCOM).
