President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Housing Ministry will release the final list of flat recipients under the previous administration’s ‘Gedhoruveriya’ housing scheme tomorrow.
Muizzu had previously assured that the list would be made public before the start of Ramadan. During a visit to Dhaalu Atoll Hulhudheli yesterday, he confirmed that the Housing Ministry would hold a press conference before publishing the list.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had earlier disclosed that 60% of those allocated flats by the former government were ineligible. In a past press briefing, the commission detailed the status of applications, stating that 20.7% of the submitted forms were valid with no issues, while 19.7% met eligibility criteria but contained minor discrepancies.
A total of 20,697 applications were submitted for the two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats under the scheme. This included 6,208 applications for two-bedroom units and 14,489 applications for three-bedroom units.
The project, which is overseen by Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation, comprises 1,250 two-bedroom flats and 2,750 three-bedroom flats.
