The Maldives marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the Integrated Court Management System (ICMS), aimed at enhancing connectivity between the country’s courts and relevant agencies.

Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan presided over the formal inauguration of the platform, underscoring its importance in modernizing the nation’s judicial infrastructure. Joining him were distinguished guests including Hisan Hussain, President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and Aishath Rizna, Chief Administrator of the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA).

At the heart of the ICMS is its comprehensive suite of features, allowing general users to access real-time updates on the status of their respective cases. The DJA highlighted that the system facilitates seamless processes such as claim submissions, case registrations, judge appointments, cash scheduling, and the issuance of court orders and verdict statements.

The implementation of this system is anticipated to address longstanding challenges within the judiciary, particularly in reducing case backlogs and expediting trial procedures. According to DJA officials, the streamlined workflows enabled by ICMS will significantly enhance efficiency across the legal spectrum.

Crucially, the development of ICMS was made possible through collaboration between the Maldives government, the UK High Commission, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This partnership underscores the commitment of international stakeholders to support the modernisation efforts of the Maldivian judiciary.
