This drug, often used as a substitute for heroin, boasts a potency that surpasses heroin by a factor of 20 to 40 and is a staggering 100 times more potent than morphine.

Moreover, its potency exacerbates the challenges of treatment in cases of overdose, contributing to a higher incidence of fatal overdoses in comparison to heroin.

In response to this emerging threat, the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, in collaboration with the National Drug Agency and other pertinent authorities, has initiated concerted efforts to address the situation comprehensively.

Furthermore, discussions between the United States and China have been undertaken to explore strategies aimed at mitigating the influx of chemicals fuelling the fentanyl crisis in the US.

This crisis has precipitated an epidemic of addiction, with an alarming 100,000 overdose deaths annually, rendering it the predominant cause of mortality among individuals aged 18 to 49 in the United States.
