Greater Bay Airlines Launches Direct Hong Kong to Maldives Flights

Greater Bay Airlines has launched direct flights between Hong Kong and the Maldives, expanding air connectivity between the two destinations.

The airline’s inaugural flight arrived at Velana International Airport this week, where passengers were welcomed with red roses and gift packs. Greater Bay Airlines will operate daily services using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft until the 25th of this month.

The launch coincides with a continued rise in tourist arrivals from China. China has reclaimed its position as the Maldives’ largest source market, with more than 35,000 arrivals recorded as of Saturday. In 2024, the Maldives welcomed 329,286 visitors from China, making it the leading market for the year.

Greater Bay Airlines is currently the only airline offering direct flights between Hong Kong and the Maldives.
