The Hajj Corporation has arranged travel for 28 pilgrims who were scheduled to depart for Umrah but were unable to travel after their flights were cancelled by Al Abrar Pvt Ltd Maldives.

A total of 110 pilgrims were reportedly unable to proceed with their Umrah journey after arrangements made by the company for departure last night failed to materialise. The matter came to public attention shortly afterwards, with a group of individuals gathering outside the company’s office to raise concerns.

According to information shared on social media by the Managing Director of Hajj Corporation, the travel company had collected funds from pilgrims with the promise of facilitating Umrah travel during Ramadan. However, the necessary arrangements were not completed. Upon requests from affected pilgrims, Hajj Corporation facilitated travel for 28 individuals, who are now en route to Jeddah.

Some members of the group stated that they had been instructed to transport their luggage on the day of departure prior to the scheduled flight. However, one individual who had made payment said they were informed otherwise while travelling to the airport. It was reported that the company subsequently held a meeting and informed pilgrims that the Umrah flight had been cancelled, citing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and uncertainty beyond 26 March.

Affected individuals alleged that prior permission had been granted for the pilgrimage and that visa payments and hotel bookings had been confirmed. Following the cancellation, several people gathered outside the company’s office requesting refunds. Efforts were reportedly made to refund pilgrims in full, with the exception of airline ticket costs.
