As a result, the Day of Arafat is set to fall on 5 June, with Eid al-Adha, also known locally as Alha Eid, to be observed on 6 June.

The official calendar of the Maldives also designates 28 May as the start of Dhul Hijjah. In response to the announcement from Saudi Arabia, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, confirmed that the Maldives would follow the same timeline.

Meanwhile, the first group of Maldivian pilgrims departed for Saudi Arabia on Monday to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. While the Maldives typically receives a quota of 1,000 pilgrims each year, the figure for 2025 has not yet been officially confirmed.
