Interested parties are invited to participate in the bidding process for leasing these lands for tourism-related activities, as outlined in the statement. Prospective bidders are required to register for the bidding procedure before the deadline of 30th April. A nominal fee of MVR 1000 is applicable for land plots of 5000 sqft, with an additional charge of MVR 1000 for each extra plot requested.

Applicants must hold registered businesses with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to qualify for participation in the bidding process.

The Hanimadhoo Council’s initiative aligns with broader efforts to bolster local tourism, particularly in anticipation of forthcoming developments at the airport. The ongoing airport enhancements are being facilitated with assistance from India.

Previously, the government stated that a total of 8000 tourism beds are necessary to ensure the viability of the Hanimadhoo Airport. To achieve this target, investments amounting to USD 2.4 billion are anticipated to be directed towards developments in the northern region.
