Health Ministry Opens Applications for New Tobacco Licences
The Ministry of Health has announced the opening of applications for licences and registration of newly imported tobacco products, following the enforcement of the updated Tobacco Control Regulations.
According to the ministry, four categories of licences are now available, each carrying a validity period of five years upon payment of the designated fee.
The available licences include a permit to sell tobacco products either individually or in bulk, which is priced at MVR 5,000. In addition, licences for tobacco import, re-export, and the registration of a new variety of tobacco are each set at MVR 10,000.
The ministry has also specified that all licences must be renewed at least 60 days prior to their expiry date to maintain compliance with the regulations.
