The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has forecasted heavy rain and thunderstorms over the coming days.
This comes as the country transitions from the northeast monsoon (dry season) to the southwest monsoon (wet season).

According to the MET Office, a cloud trough that had been forming to the south of the Maldives has gradually shifted northward, bringing rainfall to the southern atolls over the past 24 hours. This weather pattern is expected to continue, with several parts of the country likely to experience rain, and some areas facing heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder.
The MET Office has also warned of strong gusts and rough seas in certain regions, urging the public to stay informed by following the latest weather updates.
