Southern areas experienced adverse weather conditions, registering 150 mm of rainfall in Gan and 111 mm in Hithadhoo by 08:00 pm yesterday.
The NDMA highlights flooding in Addu City, with 60 houses in Feydhoo and 10 houses in Hulhudhoo affected. Thirteen houses in Maradhoo are contending with flooding, prompting ongoing drainage efforts to restore normalcy.
In Maradhoofeydhoo, five houses faced flooding, and one residence experienced a power outage. Fortunately, no evacuations were necessary, thanks to collaborative efforts by the city council, island offices, army, police, Red Crescent, Road Development Corperation (RDC), companies, and private individuals involved in drainage operations.
Nine houses in Hithadhoo successfully underwent drainage procedures without displacing residents. The NDMA plans to assess the extent of damage once the islands are fully restored to normalcy.
Furthermore, Fuvahmulah experienced flooding due to rainfall, although houses remained unaffected. Continuous monitoring of the situation is underway to address any potential developments.
