The high-speed Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service has been launched in Thaa Atoll, establishing connections between all 13 inhabited islands.
The inauguration took place today in Veymandoo during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the atoll as part of his tour. With this addition, RTL now operates across 11 atolls. Tickets for the service are available through the RTL website and mobile application.
The service is being developed by the state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under a government contract. The nationwide ferry network, which is budgeted at MVR 800 million, is being introduced in three phases across six zones.
Launched in 2022, the project is designed to provide affordable and reliable transport links between islands, improving connectivity for communities across the Maldives.
