Highest Zakat Nisab Recorded This Year as Zakat House Increases Nisab to MVR 19,527.90

Maldives Zakat House has increased the Zakat Nisab for Zakat al-Mal, or property Zakat, for a third time this year, to MVR 19,527.90.
According to the Zakat House, the new amount is based on the price of silver as of 21 December. The latest Nisab represents an increase of MVR 8,335.95 from the previous figure of MVR 11,191.95, which was set on 21 August 2025.

The Zakat House said the calculation is based on 595 grams of silver at a rate of MVR 32.82 per gram. It is the highest Nisab amount recorded in the Maldives to date.
Zakat al-Nisab represents the minimum threshold of wealth on which Zakat must be paid. The Zakat House has adjusted the Nisab four times this year: the first adjustment was in January, when the amount was reduced to MVR 8,800.05 from MVR 9,240.35 set in October 2024; the second adjustment was in April, setting it at MVR 9,264.15.
