Hours Announced for Polling Stations Abroad for Second Round of Elections

The Election Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced the hours for polling stations established abroad, for the second round of presidential election, this morning. 

What sets this year’s presidential election apart is the inclusion of five overseas locations with polling stations in Abu Dhabi, Trivandrum, Colombo, London, and Kuala Lumpur.

The hours are as follows: 

Voting is scheduled to start at 8 am local time in Abu Dhabi. 

Voting in Trivandrum, Colombo and London is scheduled to start at 0830 am local time. 

Voting in Kuala Lumpur is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m local time.

In Abu Dhabi, polls are scheduled to close at 5 pm local time.

Polling stations in Trivandrum, Colombo and London are scheduled to close at 5:30 pm local time.

Polling stations in Kuala Lumpur are scheduled to close at 8 pm local time.

In the first round, some countries have faced problems such as delays in the opening of ballot boxes due to people not going to the polling stations at the opening time. Therefore, the election commission has announced the polling hours in advance.
