The Parliament’s Housing Committee has continued discussions on the Housing Bill, reviewing recommendations from the public, relevant agencies, and the Ministry of Housing.

During the committee’s sittings held yesterday, members examined the provisions suggested for inclusion in the bill. The review followed an earlier meeting, where MPs agreed to make amendments based on feedback received from the public and institutions.

The Ministry of Housing is also expected to submit its own set of recommendations regarding the bill. According to the committee’s chairman, Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah, the ministry’s proposals will be received on Tuesday. Once the recommendations are reviewed and amendments are finalised, the committee aims to pass the bill and present it to Parliament during the first sitting of next week.

The current administration has pledged to ensure housing for all citizens, with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stating that no one would remain without housing by the end of his five-year term.
