Housing Ministry to Announce Land Allocations via SMS and Online Portal
The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has revealed that information about land allocated through the upcoming lottery will be available via SMS and through the Hiyavahi portal.
The lottery draw is scheduled for Tuesday at 0900 hours in the Rannabandeyri Hall at Dharubaruge. This draw encompasses applicants from various categories: those who have previously received land under the Binveriya Scheme, individuals with allocated plots, applicants yet to receive land, and people who have transferred land from Giravarufalhu to Gulhifalhu.

The Ministry has also published a detailed list of eligible land recipients for the lottery, with a total of 3,520 plots set to be allocated. These include 669 plots measuring 1,250 square meters, 1,234 plots of 1,650 square meters, 916 plots of 2,050 square meters, 473 plots of 2,450 square meters, 158 plots of 2,850 square meters, 49 plots of 3,250 square meters, and 21 plots of 3,650 square meters. The list is organised by form number, and the lottery will proceed in this order. Notifications will be sent to successful applicants via SMS and posted on the Hiyavahi portal.
Public attendance is permitted at the draw. Those wishing to attend on behalf of a landlord must provide a letter of no objection from the landlord along with a copy of the landlord’s identification. The Ministry also noted that details of the approved land use plan, including block numbers, plot numbers, and allocation plans, will be available on the Hiyavahi portal.
