The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged Maldivians to seek medical attention if a rash appears following a fever after confirming two measles cases in the Greater Malé Area last week.
In a statement on social media, the HPA advised the public to seek immediate medical care if a red rash develops on the body after a fever.
The agency confirmed that two individuals in the Greater Malé Area have tested positive for measles. They said they are currently carrying out contact tracing, identifying the origin of the infection, and locating potential contacts for vaccination as part of standard procedures.

The HPA said the Maldives has recorded five measles cases so far this year, including two imported cases involving individuals who contracted the disease abroad before entering the country.
The agency added that measles cases are currently increasing globally and in neighbouring countries, raising the risk of further transmission.
