Hulhumalé Hospital and Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) have signed an agreement to establish a general practice clinic in Amaan Udhares Tower Six in Hulhumalé Phase II, marking another step in efforts to expand primary healthcare services in densely populated urban areas.

The clinic is intended to improve access to essential health services for residents, particularly in a part of the city where demand has outpaced available facilities. It will introduce services such as vaccination, child weight monitoring and counselling as part of wider efforts to strengthen community-level care.

Male’ City Group of Hospitals CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said the clinic forms part of an ongoing initiative to set up six general practice clinics across the capital in line with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s directive. Work on an additional facility in Henveiru is expected to begin soon, with both the Henveiru and Amaan Udhares clinics planned to open at the same time. Haleem also noted the collaboration between FDC, the Ministry of Health and other agencies to support the initiative.

The development comes as part of continued expansion of urban primary healthcare services. A general practice clinic in Hiyaa Tower 16 in Hulhumalé Phase II began 24-hour operations on 21 September, while another facility was opened on 19 November in the Coral Boulevard building near Rasfannu Beach. The Coral Boulevard building, developed during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, had remained unused for several years before being repurposed for healthcare services.
