Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure has revealed that documentation for the 4,000 flats currently under construction in Hulhumale’ phase 2 will be provided to eligible recipients on Sunday.
More than 20,000 individuals submitted applications for accommodation within the government’s housing scheme. As part of the initiative, the government has committed to allocating flats to all qualifying applicants, totaling 13,000 units.
The Planning Ministry has further affirmed the intent to construct additional flats to cater to the remaining qualifying applicants.
In a decision made back in August, the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) collaborated with India’s Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL) to build an additional 4,000 flats. However, active construction has yet to commence, with the FDC granting KPIL a six-month window to secure financing for the housing project.
The current count of flats allocated by the government stands at 8,000, but construction work has commenced on only 4,000 units, spread across 32 towers. Each 18-storey tower is intended to host eight apartments per floor.
State Minister Akram Kamaludeen, confirmed that the initial documentation will be provided to the recipients of the 4,000 flats currently under construction.
Nevertheless, the specific timeline for the allocation of the first 4,000 flats and the subsequent issuance of keys has not been publicly disclosed.
The FDC has assured that the under-construction flats will be equipped with elevators, water, and electricity by the end of this year.
