Immigration Issues Notices to Over 270 Foreign Nationals

The Maldives Immigration announced that notices were issued to 273 foreign nationals whose visas were found to be invalid during the operation targeting illegal immigration in Male’.

The operation, carried out last Wednesday, involved searches at 582 locations and questioning of 1,025 foreign nationals.

As part of the effort, 120 Maldivian employers who had illegally hired these foreigners were given written advice.

In addition to the notices, 10 foreign nationals were arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.

Maldives Immigration has ramped up its efforts to combat illegal immigration, with more than 3,000 individuals deported so far as part of the ongoing crackdown.
