Immigration Reports 1072 Migrants Deportation in the Last Five Years

The Maldives Immigration has disclosed deportation statistics covering 2019 to 2023, revealing trends over the past five years, with a total of 1072 migrants deported during this timeframe.
During the entire period, a total of 1072 migrants were deported. The yearly breakdown is as follows: In 2019, 205 migrants were deported. In 2020, the number was 206. In 2021, 163 individuals faced deportation. In 2022, the figure was 175. Lastly, in 2023, the highest number was recorded with 323 migrants deported.
Examining the nationalities targeted for deportation in 2023, the statistics reveal the following distribution: Afghanistan had no recorded deportations, Bangladesh topped the list with 233 individuals, Egypt had one case, Indonesia recorded none, India saw 41 deportations.
Sri Lanka had 22 cases, Latvia had no recorded deportations, Nepal recorded three cases, Pakistan had no deportations, Philippines had one case, Thailand recorded 19 deportations, Turkey had no recorded deportations, and Vietnam recorded three cases.
Analyzing the cumulative data for the entire five-year period (2019-2023), the deportation figures based on nationality are as follows: Afghanistan had one deportation, Bangladesh had the highest with 916 individuals, Egypt recorded two cases, Indonesia had one deportation, India saw 68 deportations, Sri Lanka recorded 40 cases.
Latvia had two deportations, Nepal recorded eight cases, Pakistan had one deportation, Philippines had two cases, Thailand recorded 27 deportations, Turkey had one deportation, and Vietnam recorded three cases.
