President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said improving the benefits nurses receive is a key priority of this administration in his message to celebrate Nurses Day, observed today.
In his address commemorating Nurses Day, President Muizzu acknowledged the vital role nurses play in the healthcare sector every day. He extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all nurses, recognising them as professionals who shoulder one of the most demanding and honourable responsibilities—serving humanity around the clock.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to listening to nurses’ concerns and taking appropriate action to support them. He emphasised the profound responsibility that comes with the nursing profession, describing it as both noble and deeply rewarding. He noted that nurses not only make invaluable contributions to society but also earn the goodwill and heartfelt prayers of those they care for.
In a separate social media message marking the occasion, the president praised nurses for their compassion and dedication. He observed that while hospitals admit patients for treatment, it is the nurses who remain by their side until recovery and discharge. By serving others with kindness and a smile, nurses perform a duty that brings pride to the entire nation. He concluded by wishing all Maldivian nurses continued progress and success.
