International Chefs Day celebrations have commenced in the Maldives, with the theme “Growing Greater Chefs,” introduced by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WorldChefs), focusing on inspiring young talents.

Celebrations have already commenced at various locations across the Maldives. Just last week, under the skilled leadership of Executive Chef Ishaq Solih and with the endorsement of the Chefs Guild of Maldives, the Royal Island Resort played host to a week-long celebration. This event brought together resort staff, guests, and local communities in B. Atoll for a seven-day culinary festival, replete with a wide range of activities that catered to diverse interests.

Throughout the week, students between the ages of 12-14 from B. Dhonfanu School, B. Maalhos School, and B. Atoll Education Center were welcomed to the resort. They participated in meticulously planned activities that focused on hospitality, kitchen operations, and healthy cooking. In a display of community engagement, the Royal Island Resort also donated a generous number of plants to B. Dhonfanu School.

The dedicated kitchen staff at the Royal Island Resort collaborated with various departments across the entire week to create culinary delights across different themes and concepts. Some of the noteworthy highlights included the General Manager’s Sandwich Station on 9th October and an Inter-Departmental Cooking Challenge on 13th October, which emphasized vegetarian and vegan cooking.

Chef Ishaq Solih, who spearheaded these activities, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success, saying, “The activities were engaging and well-received by all, including our staff, guests, and students. We aligned with the WorldChefs theme and maintained our strong commitment to sustainability and waste reduction in food preparation. This was a highly successful event.”

The International Chefs Day celebrations in the Maldives are not only a celebration of culinary expertise but also a platform for fostering talent and promoting sustainable cooking practices. As the festivities continue, the culinary community in the Maldives looks forward to a future of greater gastronomic excellence and shared culinary experiences.
