Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has dismissed as “disgraceful” rumours circulating online that his son, Abdulla Mahil Shaheem, was apprehended for smuggling vape products into the Maldives.
In a post on X, Dr Shaheem said it was false to claim that his son was caught attempting to bring vapes into the country by attaching them to his body. He also rejected reports that Mahil, who serves on the Youth Advisory Board formed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, works at the Malaysian Embassy, calling for corrections to be issued by outlets that had published the story.
