Islamic Ministry Launches Maldives Zakat House Website

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has launched the Maldives Zakat House website, during a ceremony held at the Ministry, today.

In a separate event at the Islamic Center, Dr President Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated the Zakat House, underscoring its importance within the country’s Islamic financial framework. Established on December 18, 2023, the Zakat House operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Operating in accordance with Article 116 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Maldives, the Zakat House is dedicated to bolstering the Zakat system and expanding the Zakat Fund’s reach. As an integral part of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, it plays a role in ensuring equitable distribution of Zakat benefits to eligible recipients across the nation.

Key responsibilities of the Zakat House include the organisation of Zakat collection and distribution processes, periodic announcements of property Zakat rates, and collaboration with relevant authorities to maintain a register of individuals in need.
