It is Our Administration that will Bring Justice to Nasheed, Says Muizzu

PPM/PNC presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, yesterday, has pledged to ensure justice is served for the former President, Mohamed Nasheed, who continues to seek redress for the terrorist attack he endured.

Muizzu affirmed that a PPM/PNC government would actively champion this cause.

He expressed his commitment to upholding the independence of the judiciary and delivering impartial justice without discrimination. The concern at hand is the perceived lack of progress in seeking justice for Nasheed regarding the attack.

Furthermore, Muizzu stressed that the foremost priority should be the restoration of peace in the country, and this can only be achieved by prioritizing justice and establishing it in its truest form. He assured the public that he would undertake this task diligently should he come to power.

In addition to his stance on justice, Muizzu has engaged in discussions with The Democrats, a political party founded by Nasheed, which secured a the third highest number of votes in the first round of the presidential election. 

Talks have revolved around the possibility of forming a coalition with The Democrats. 

Regarding the attack on Nasheed that occurred on May 6, 2021, eight individuals have been charged in connection with the incident. 

Adham Ahmed, one of the prime suspects involved in the bombing, has already been convicted and sentenced to 23 years in prison. The trials of the remaining seven suspects are still pending, leaving many eager for further developments in the pursuit of justice.
