Justice Mahaz Stresses Discipline in Higher Education Graduates
Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir, a Justice of the Supreme Court, has reiterated the paramount importance of instilling a high level of discipline in all students upon their completion of higher studies.
These sentiments were expressed during the graduation ceremony of the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).
Addressing the attendees, Justice Mahaz noted certain undesirable behaviours observed among higher education graduates. He underscored the necessity of addressing such practices and fostering Islamic moral principles and exemplary discipline.
Despite the rising number of graduates in recent years, Justice Mahaz noted a lack of positive behavioural shifts.
Encouraging graduates to actively work towards rectifying societal behavioural shortcomings, particularly through refined language, Justice Mahaz emphasised the importance of students pursuing education to continuously seek knowledge with enthusiasm.
He additionally noted that while the quantity of educated individuals and those enthusiastic about education has risen in Maldives, prevailing trends indicate a decline in discipline and conduct.
Recognising the significant role of IUM as an educational institution in the nation, Justice Mahaz stressed the importance of its graduates being distinguished from those of other universities. Thus, he underscored the necessity of instilling Islamic morals and values in all IUM graduates.
In light of emerging complaints regarding the lack of creative writing among students, Justice Mahaz urged all graduates to promote and utilise their creative writing skills to the fullest.
