Kulhudhuffushi Hosts Fisheries Career and Training Programmes

Kulhudhuffushi City Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, recently hosted two key programmes aimed at raising awareness and providing hands-on training for local students and aspiring entrepreneurs.


Career guidance session “Launch Your Career at Fisheries”

Kulhudhuffushi City Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, conducted a career guidance session, “Launch Your Career at Fisheries”, for secondary and higher secondary students from 03 schools in Kulhudhuffushi city.

Last Tuesday at the NOC building. The session was taught by technical experts from the Ministry of Fisheries. A total of 56 students participated in the session, which aimed to raise awareness about fisheries and the fishing industry, inform them about the job opportunities in the sector and create interested youth in the sector. 

Value-Added Fisheries and Small Business Management Short Course

The City Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, hosted a training course titled ‘Value-Added Fisheries and Small Business Management Short Course’ from 2nd to 6th February at the NOC building.

Led by technical experts from the Ministry, the course aimed to equip 14 participants with the skills to prepare value-added fish products and assist those seeking to commercialise such products. The programme covered topics such as maintaining product quality and safety, safety standards for fish product preparation, labelling and packaging, and the operation and management of a fishing business. The course included both theoretical and practical sessions.

Certificates were awarded to participants by Kulhudhuffushi City Council Member Mr. Rizwan Mohammed at the closing ceremony. Mr. Mohammed noted the strong interest from both men and women in the training programme and assured that the City Council would continue to provide support for initiatives that benefit the island.
