The Housing Ministry has completed the handover of land to all beneficiaries of the Binveriyaa Scheme in Hulhumale Phase 2. The final land allocation was held yesterday, fulfilling a commitment made by the President to deliver these allocations by the end of October.

The Binveriyaa Scheme was initiated to address a shortage of land available for essential services in the area. Despite the new allocations, the Ministry has confirmed that the land use plan for Gulhifalhu remains unchanged.

A total of 19,631 individuals are eligible under the government’s Gedhoruveriya programme. These 18,948 beneficiaries have now received land in Hulhumale Phase 2, with an additional 2,218 plots allocated in Gulhifalhu. Looking ahead, 5,432 plots are set to be distributed in Gulhifalhu in future rounds.

This completion of land transfers marks the fulfilment of the President’s pledge to provide land allocations under the scheme as promised.
