After an interval of 11 years, the opportunity to secure land plots has resurfaced in R. Angolhitheemu.
The Island Council of Angolhitheemu has initiated the allocation process for 32 parcels of land, each spanning an area of 3,000 square feet, as outlined in the existing land use plan. Among these plots, 30 are situated on the southeastern perimeter of the island, while the remaining two are positioned on the southwestern side.
Prospective applicants are requested to complete their submissions before the deadline of September 20. Eligibility criteria dictate that candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age and devoid of possession of a registered land plot.
Moreover, individuals holding a government-issued residential flat or a registered land plot are excluded, unless a lapse of two years since the relinquishment of said properties can be demonstrated.
Angolhitheemu Island Council President, Faisal Naseem emphasised that the priority will be accorded to applicants who do not own residential properties, with particular attention directed towards families with children who possess special needs.
In a supplemental statement, Naseem highlighted the sufficient expanse of land within Angolhitheemu, coupled with the 20-year feasibility aspect embedded within the land use plan. He also remarked that the designated area of 3,000 square feet for each land plot remains open to adjustment contingent upon modifications to adjacent street layouts.
