Lowest Voter Turnout Since 2008 Recorded in Today’s Presidential Election

In today’s presidential election, the polls have officially closed, initiating the commencement of the ballot counting process. According to official figures, this election has witnessed the lowest voter turnout since 2008.

Approximately 75 percent of eligible voters exercised their right to vote in this election, which had a total of 282,395 eligible voters.

Comparatively, during the first multi-party presidential election in 2008, there were 209,294 eligible voters, and the voter turnout stood at 86.5 percent. In 2013, when 218,619 people were eligible to vote, the turnout reached an impressive 91.4 percent.

In the preceding 2018 presidential election, 233,889 individuals were eligible to cast their votes, and the turnout recorded was 89.2 percent.

As of now, the election authorities have closed all 570 ballot boxes, and the counting process is currently underway.
