Maafannu Police Report Over MVR 130,000 in Theft and Robbery Losses in Two Days

Maldives Police Service statistics show that Maafannu Police Station recorded more than MVR 130,000 in estimated losses from theft and robbery cases between 21 and 22 February.
According to figures released for district police stations in Malé, Maafannu Police Station reported estimated losses totalling MVR 138,552 during the two-day period. Officers recovered MVR 34,720 of the reported amount. The station also stopped and questioned 256 individuals and made two arrests.
At Galolhu Police Station, officers recovered MVR 365,099 during the same period. The station stopped and questioned 151 individuals and made three arrests. No estimated loss figure was specified in the data released.
Henveiru Police Station recorded estimated losses of MVR 380 from theft and robbery cases, while officers recovered MVR 65,000 over the two days. The station stopped and questioned 146 individuals and made one arrest.
Nationally, police statistics show that 188 theft cases were reported across the country in February alone. So far this year, 497 theft cases have been reported, making theft the second most reported crime after traffic accidents.The figures highlight continued enforcement efforts by district police stations in Malé amid persistently high levels of reported theft nationwide.
