MACL Reports 15% Completion of Giraavaru Falhu Reclamation Project

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) reported steady progress on the Giraavaru Falhu reclamation project, completing 15 hectares out of the planned 97.15 hectares, marking 15.4 percent overall completion.
The company said dredging operations are being carried out by the vessels Queen of the Netherlands, with a hopper capacity of 35,500 cubic metres, and Orange, with a capacity of 22,000 cubic metres. The project began on 30 January 2026.
In addition to Giraavaru Falhu, MACL is advancing the reclamation of Rasmalé Site A. The company revealed in January that 64 hectares have been reclaimed at Site A, representing approximately 47 percent of the total 138 hectares planned for the site. Site A is part of the wider Rasmale’ development, which aims to reclaim a total of 1,009 hectares.
