Majilis to Host Painting Competition for International Day of Democracy 2023

The Maldives Parliament is ringing in the International Day of Democracy 2023 with a painting competition with the aim to stimulate creativity while simultaneously fostering an understanding of democracy and the mechanisms of the Parliament. The competition invites aspiring artists from various age groups to participate.

The theme for the competition is “To Democracy – The Maldivian Journey.” Participants are encouraged to use their art to express their perspectives on the democratic progression of the Maldives. To ensure inclusivity and a level playing field, the competition is divided into three age categories.

The age groups for the competition are as follows:

Youth Category: Individuals between 14 and 18 years of age as of August 31, 2023.

Young Adult Category: Individuals between 18 and 35 years of age as of August 31, 2023.

Adult Category: Individuals who are 35 years of age or older as of August 31, 2023.

Artists interested in participating are required to create their artwork and send it to the Maldives Parliament. They must include essential details such as their age category and the origin of the artwork with their submissions. To be considered for evaluation, all entries must arrive before the specified deadline.

The competition boasts attractive cash prizes for the top performers in each age category. The prizes are distributed as follows:

1st Place: MVR 3000

2nd Place: MVR 2000

3rd Place: MVR 1500

Overall winners across all categories:

1st Place: MVR 7000

2nd Place: MVR 5500

3rd Place: MVR 4000
