The four additional flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using the 174-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the direct route.

Malaysia Airlines resumed its operations to the Maldives in August last year, following a seven-year hiatus. The route sees competition from other regional carriers including AirAsia and Batik Air.

Malaysia remains a popular destination among Maldivians, both for holidays and higher education. According to official figures, tourist arrivals from Malaysia rose significantly in the first half of 2025, reaching 11,269 compared to 6,517 during the same period last year, reflecting a 72.9 percent increase.
