Maldives and Saudi Arabia Sign MoU to Boost Aviation Cooperation

The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have formalised a significant step towards enhanced aviation collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving safety and security standards in the sector.

The agreement was signed on Thursday in Umluj City, with the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) as the key stakeholders. Representing their respective nations, the Maldives’ Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, signed the MoU.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the President of Saudi Arabia’s General Civil Aviation Authority, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, and officials from the Maldives CAA.

The cooperation agreement places particular emphasis on enhancing safety and security regulations for water aerodromes and seaplanes. The initiative aims to align these regulations with international standards to ensure robust aviation practices.

The Maldives Transport Ministry highlighted that this landmark agreement underscores the growing strategic partnership between the two nations, further reinforcing ties in the aviation sector.
