A new digital learning space, established with the support of the Pakistan High Commission in the Maldives, has been officially inaugurated at the Maldives Autism Centre.
The facility, named the ‘Jinnah Digital Room’, was launched during a closed ceremony held on Tuesday at the Centre. The event was officiated by the Pakistani High Commissioner to the Maldives, Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, and former First Lady Ilham Hussain. Also in attendance were the Special Advisor to the Maldives Autism Association and former President, Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, along with senior management of the Association.
The digital classroom has been equipped with five laptops and three smart screens donated by the Pakistan High Commission. The facility is intended to enhance digital skill development and learning opportunities for students enrolled at the Centre.
During the ceremony, High Commissioner Lodhi reaffirmed the High Commission’s continued commitment to supporting the Maldives Autism Association in its efforts to empower and educate neurodivergent children. He also acknowledged the work of the Association, praising the dedication of its founder and executive chairperson, Ilham Hussain, and the support provided by former President Waheed.
Ilham Hussain expressed gratitude for the High Commission’s ongoing partnership and contributions towards the development of the Centre. Over the years, the High Commission has supported the Association through donations of iPads, laptops, and printing materials vital to its therapeutic and educational services.
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of commemorative plaques between the two parties, symbolising the enduring collaboration between the Pakistan High Commission and the Maldives Autism Association.
