The Maldives has awarded the contract for redesigning its civil registration, vital statistics, and identification management system to Thailand-based company Control Data Ltd.

The initiative is part of the Digital Maldives for Adaptation, Decentralisation, and Diversification (DMADD) Project, which is overseen by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and supported through grant assistance from the World Bank.

The agreement was signed by State Minister at the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, Dr Mohamed Kinaanath, while Control Data Ltd.’s Managing Director, Nart Liuchareon, represented the company.

The project aims to strengthen the foundational identity system managed by the Department of National Registration (DNR) under the second component of the DMADD project.

Once implemented, the system will support the e-Faas digital identity platform managed by the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT). It will also enable local government authorities and councils to maintain population records and provide real-time, secure, and accurate data for the Ministry of Health and the Maldives Bureau of Statistics.
